Beginner Spoken Chinese - lesson 24 - It's extremely hot outside

Hello Dajia hao. This is John. We will learn how to the following sentences in Chinese:

l         It's extremely hot outside
l         will it rain tomorrow?
l         I have no idea
l         What's today's temperature?

And we will learn the structure “adj. + jíle极了” which means “extremely adj.”

Here we go

l         It's extremely hot outside
Wàimiàn rè jíle 外面热极了
wàimiàn means outsiderè is hot rè jíle from the structure  “adj. + jíle极了” which means “extremely hot”

l         will it rain tomorrow?
Mínɡtiān xià yǔ ma 明天下雨吗?
Mínɡtiān tomorrowyǔ means rain. As you might know xià means down so xiàyǔ here we use xià as a verb means the rain goes down.

l         I have no idea
wǒ bù zhīdào 我不知道
Literally I don’t know

What's today's temperature?
Jīntiān duōshǎo dù? 今天多少度?
dù means degree, literally Today How many degree?

It's 16 degrees
16 dù 16
We don’t use “it’s…” structure very often like in English. So here we normally just say 16 degrees.

Other useful words

(qíng) sunny
(yīn) cloudy
(xuě) snow

Thank you for watching, I hope you could join me for another lesson.
